We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, capable, and reliable person to fill the full-time role of Cleaning Supervisor. The role will be predominantly a hands-on operational role with time allocated for administrative duties. In addition, this leadership role will require you to coordinate and support the cleaning team, manage cleaning supplies, conduct audits and organise team rosters.
About the Role
The Cleaning Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the Sanctuary, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment for guests, staff, and wildlife. This position combines hands-on cleaning tasks with leadership responsibilities and requires a strong focus on customer service. Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning of the Sanctuary’s facilities, amenities, public areas plus internal offices, kitchenettes, lunchrooms and other areas as identified, including some affiliated properties.
- Provide friendly, helpful information about the Sanctuary's facilities and attractions to guests.
- Lead the cleaning team by managing daily operations, allocating tasks, overseeing cleaning, groundskeeping, and park services, rostering, and ensuring team performance and quality.
- Handle ordering supplies, stock control, audits, equipment management and maintenance, and liaising with suppliers.
- Assist with projects and support other department needs as required, showcasing a flexible and helpful attitude.
- Perform extensive walking, bending, lifting, and carrying in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
About You
We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented individual with a strong background in cleaning and a passion for sustainability. The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and leadership skills. Key qualities and requirements include:
- Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures and experience using cleaning machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively within a small team, with a cooperative, friendly, and positive approach.
- Professional personal presentation and strong communication skills to interact with guests, staff, and volunteers.
- A ‘can-do’ mindset with a friendly, motivated, and calm manner.
- Meticulous approach to cleaning and waste management initiatives.
- Ability to adhere to WHS guidelines and safely handle commercial chemicals.
- Capable of performing physically demanding tasks such as walking long distances, carrying a 15kg backpack for extended periods, and emptying bins.
- ·Must be comfortable working in an environment that includes mammals, birds and reptiles & be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
